Management team
The C.A. Bancorp management team consists of seasoned professionals with diverse educational and business backgrounds. The team has a long history of working with successful entrepreneurs, and is adept at identifying and quickly executing on investment opportunities.

John F. Driscoll, CHAIRMAN and CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Mr. Driscoll is a widely respected pioneer in the oil and gas, and royalty trust sectors. His enterprises launched in the 1980s were the first to give Canadian investors a direct interest in oil and gas production. During the last 20 years, Mr. Driscoll has been Chairman or CEO of issuers that have invested, or managed the investment of, more than $12.4 billion. He has founded numerous public partnerships as well as public and private energy and investment-related companies. Mr. Driscoll has more than 35 years of diversified business experience. Mr. Driscoll is the founding President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sentry Select Capital Corp. He also founded, and has been Chairman of, NCE Resources Group since 1984, and Chairman and founder of Petrofund Energy Trust from 1988 to 2006, in June of which year Petrofund Energy Trust merged with Penn West Energy Trust. Mr. Driscoll has also been Chairman of Strategic Energy Fund, Endev Energy Inc., C.A. Bancorp Inc. and Charter REIT since May 2002, October 2003, January 2006 and March 2007, respectively. He has been President, since 1981, of J.F. Driscoll Investment Corp., a company specializing in investment management and related advisory and consulting services. Mr. Driscoll received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Boston College Business School and attended the New York Institute of Finance for advanced business studies. He is a member of the CFA Institute (formerly the Association for Investment Management and Research) and also attained the professional manager designation with the Canadian Institute of Management.
Mark Gardhouse joined C.A. Bancorp Inc. as President in the fall of 2005. He has over 24 years experience as a merchant banker both at financial institutions and as a direct principal. From 1998 to 2005, Mark was managing director of corporate finance at Roynat Capital Inc., a division of Scotiabank, where he was responsible for establishing and developing the "in house" buyout and corporate finance group. Prior to his tenure at Roynat, he negotiated and structured financial transactions and acquisitions for various different firms and banks, including National Bank of Canada, Lincoln Capital and First Chicago. Mark received his honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Toronto and his Masters of Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 1983. Mark currently sits on the board of AgriFinancial Canada Corp., Bermingham Foundation Solutions and C.A.B. Barlow Holdings Corp.

Mark MacDonald, MANAGING DIRECTOR, PRIVATE INVESTMENTS
Mark MacDonald joined C.A. Bancorp in the spring of 2006 to help raise and manage a structured equity capital portfolio, accessing capital from the institutional and high net worth marketplaces. Mark has over 25 years experience in the financial industry, with broad experience in private equity investment management. Prior to joining C.A. Bancorp, Mark was Vice President, Teachers’ Private Capital, the private equity arm of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. He joined Teachers’ in 1995 and was responsible for originating, structuring, negotiating and managing private equity and mezzanine debt investments in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Prior to Teachers’, he held senior investment management and advisory positions with organizations such as Citibank Canada, Morgan Financial Corporation and Enterprise Management Group. Mark has extensive Board of Directors’ experience on both private and public boards in Canada and the U.S., having served on the Board of Trimac Corporation, AT&T Canada, Osprey Media Holdings and Sun Media Corporation, amongst others. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in Economics from Queen’s University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Mark is also a graduate of the ICD Corporate Governance College, Directors Education Program and holds the ICD.D designation. Mark currently sits on the board of High Fidelity HDTV Inc., Everus Communications Inc. and Windward Telecom Ltd.

Michael Lovett, MANAGING DIRECTOR, REAL ESTATE CAPITAL
Michael Lovett joined C.A. Bancorp as Managing Director, Real Estate Capital in May 2007. Michael has over 24 years of expertise in the commercial real estate lending industry most recently as the President of Commercial Mortgage & Capital, a private commercial mortgage company controlled by Avison Young Commercial Real Estate Inc. which originated and placed commercial real estate loans and mortgages. He was the President and founder of Montrose Mortgage Corporation (Toronto) Ltd. from 2001 to 2005 where he was responsible for opening the Toronto office and originating and structuring commercial real estate loans. Michael has been involved in placing loans on all major asset classes, including term loans, construction financing and mezzanine facilities. Michael has also held senior real estate related positions in origination, risk assessment, and special loans with CIBC Mortgages Inc. (National Sales Manager), National Trust (VP, Risk Management), Citibank (Assistant Vice President) National Bank (Senior Manager, Corporate Real Estate) and Swiss American Bank of Antigua (General Manager).

Paolo De Luca joined C.A. Bancorp as its Chief Financial Officer in the summer of 2006. Prior to joining C.A. Bancorp, Paolo was a Senior Manager at TD Bank Financial Group. He worked in a risk management capacity, focusing on derivatives, structured products and other trading business lines within the securities division. Before joining TD, Paolo was a Senior Manager at the public accounting firm of Ernst & Young. He specialized in accounting for complex transactions, derivatives, securitizations and long-term investments including private equity transactions. Paolo began his career at Arthur Andersen before moving to Deloitte, where he was engaged in various assurance and business advisory capacities, serving primarily financial institutions including large Canadian, U.S. and international banks and investment dealers. Paolo earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University. In addition, he holds a Chartered Accountant designation, is a CFA Charterholder; he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario as well as the CFA Institute.
Kevin Cohen, VICE-PRESIDENT and GENERAL COUNSEL
Kevin Cohen joined C.A. Bancorp Inc. in 2006 as its Manager of Corporate Affairs and General Counsel. Prior to joining C.A. Bancorp, Kevin practiced corporate and securities law with Torys LLP from 2004 to 2006. From 2002 to 2004, he attended the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 2004 with a Masters of Business Administration degree. From 1994 to 2002, Kevin practiced law in Vancouver after obtaining his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1994 from the University of British Columbia. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991 from the University of Western Ontario.
Jake Trainor joined C.A. Bancorp Inc. as Vice-President in the spring of 2007. Prior to joining C.A. Bancorp, Jake was a Senior Associate at Mercer Management Consulting, a top-tier consulting firm. He has deep experience gained from client engagements spanning the transportation, infrastructure, and retail sectors. Most recently, Jake was seconded to a leading Middle Eastern airline where he managed their cargo division for 14 months. Jake received his Masters of Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada. Jake’s previous experience also includes serving in the Canadian Forces as a Special Operations Pilot. Jake currently sits on the board of Bermingham Foundation Solutions, Everus Communications Inc., Windward Telecom Ltd. and Salbro Bottle Group.
Kurt Brands joined C.A. Bancorp Inc. as Vice-President in the spring of 2007. Prior to joining C.A. Bancorp, Kurt was a Senior Consultant at Everest Group, a global outsourcing advisory firm. He was engaged in a variety of client assignments developing sourcing strategies for non-core business operations and negotiating commercial outsourcing agreements. Prior to that, Kurt worked in finance and corporate development at IBM. Kurt received his Masters of Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Royal Roads University. In addition, he holds a CMA designation and is member of the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario.
Greg Walker joined C.A. Bancorp in 2006 and has 14 years of experience in the financial industry. Greg has held numerous positions in the financial services industry including sales, marketing and operations roles. Prior to joining C.A. Bancorp, he was employed with Sentry Select Capital Corp. as a Research Analyst, and prior to that role, worked for AIM Trimark Investments in their marketing department. Greg has completed his CFA Level II and is currently working towards obtaining his Chartered Business Valuators designation. In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
Jillian Crump joined C.A. Bancorp as a Corporate Accountant in 2007. She has approximately five years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining C.A. Bancorp, Jillian worked as a Senior Auditor with TD Bank Financial Group, Investment Banking Audit division. In this role, she was responsible for designing and performing control testing, focusing on the derivative and structured products business lines. Prior to that, she worked as a Senior Accountant at KPMG in its financial services audit group. Jillian earned a Masters of Accounting degree and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Chartered Accountancy Studies from the University of Waterloo. She holds a Chartered Accountant designation and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.
Rob LeBlanc joined C.A. Bancorp as an Associate in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Rob was a Consultant at Oliver Wyman, a leading global management consulting company. During his tenure, he focused on strategy development and execution, operational improvement, organization and process (re)design and post-merger integration. Rob has engaged clients in North America, South America, Europe and the Middle East in a variety of industries, including transportation, oil and gas, energy, aviation and retail. Before joining Oliver Wyman, Rob was a professional football player in the Canadian Football League. He played for the 2005 Grey Cup Champion Edmonton Eskimos. In 2006, he went on an extended leave from consulting to return to the Eskimos for a second season. Rob received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University in 2005.
Ryan joined C.A. Bancorp Inc. in 2006 as its Assistant Corporate Secretary and was appointed Corporate Secretary in 2007. Prior to joining C.A. Bancorp, Ryan worked as an associate lawyer with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Toronto. During his time there, he practiced corporate law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. Ryan received his call to the bar in 2003 after he earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen’s University. He earned his Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998 from the University of Western Ontario. Ryan also holds the position of Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Sentry Select Capital Corp. and Corporate Secretary of Charter Realty Holdings Ltd.
Helen Martin joined C.A. Bancorp as its In-house Counsel in 2007. Previously, Helen worked as an associate with Blake, Cassels & Graydon from 2005 to 2007. During her time there, she practiced securities law with emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and compliance issues. Prior to that, she worked with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg as an articling and summer student from 2002 to 2004. Helen received her call to the Bar of Ontario in 2004, after she earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Toronto in 2003. She earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Victoria in 2000.
