Weiss Asset Management LP, Formerly Weiss Capital LLC, Acquires Shares of C.A. Bancorp Inc.

On April 23, 2010 Weiss Asset Management LP, formerly Weiss Capital LLC (“Weiss”), acquired control of 85,000 common shares of C.A. Bancorp Inc. (the “Issuer”), representing approximately 0.32% of the presently issued and outstanding common shares of the Issuer. Those purchases gave Weiss ownership or control of 2,676,200 common shares representing approximately 10.01% of the issued and outstanding common shares of the Issuer reported as of March 31, 2010. The securities were acquired in multiple trades through the facilities of the Toronto Stock Exchange on April 23, 2010 at an average price of approximately CDN$1.38 per common share. The common shares have been acquired for investment purposes and, depending on market and other conditions, Weiss and/or its affiliates may increase or decrease their beneficial ownership, control or direction over common shares (including disposing of all or a portion of the common shares of the Issuer beneficially owned or controlled by them) through market transactions, private agreements, treasury issuances, exercise of options, convertible securities or otherwise.
